There is always excitement in creating something new. But there is a different sort of pleasure in looking again at a design that has been part of our collection for years and finding that it still feels just right.
After exploring Christmas through reds, greens and golds, we wanted to pause and celebrate some of our enduring classics. Not simply because they have been with us a long time, but because their little worlds still invite a closer look.
White Magic, Fairy Queen and Doggie Noel were first published in 2018. Eight years on, they still hold their own in our Christmas collection. Alongside them is Santa’s Sleigh, whose place in our online collection reaches back to 2016.
Santa’s Sleigh: a little Christmas nostalgia
Father Christmas, a beautifully laden sleigh and a reindeer ready for the journey. Some Christmas images need no introduction, but the pleasure is in the way the details come together.
The sleigh’s sweeping green curves and ornate runners frame a tumble of presents, with a decorated tree rising behind Santa. It is a miniature scene to linger over, full of the anticipation of Christmas Eve.
White Magic: Christmas in an enchanted forest
White branches, woodland creatures and a striking splash of Santa’s red coat give White Magic its distinctive winter atmosphere. A snow fairy stands among the intricate layers, while an owl, reindeer and rabbits draw you further into the scene.
First published in 2018, it brings a storybook sense of wonder to Christmas. There is no need to hurry through this forest; part of the pleasure is noticing another small detail.
Fairy Queen: a different kind of festive magic
Fairy Queen offers a softer, botanical kind of enchantment. Curling branches frame the queen and her woodland companions, with delicate wings, flowers and a Christmas tree woven into the scene.
Another of our 2018 designs, she feels at home among the Christmas decorations, but her fairy-tale world has a charm that reaches beyond the festive season.
Doggie Noel: Christmas with a little mischief
Anyone who shares Christmas with a dog will recognise something of the spirit of Doggie Noel. There is so much to investigate, and so little chance of sitting quietly while the festivities unfold.
Dogs gather around a red sleigh, gifts and decorated trees, each bringing its own character to the scene. First published in 2018, this is the playful member of our classics selection: busy, affectionate and full of festive personality.
Original designs, worth returning to
For us, a classic is not simply an older design. It is one that still has something to give: a sense of wonder, a familiar smile, or a detail you had not noticed before.
As the original designers, we take real pleasure in seeing these pieces continue to belong alongside our newer creations. They are part of the story of Me&McQ, and a reminder that the latest design need not replace a much-loved one.
Whether you are discovering them for the first time or recognising a familiar face, we hope you enjoy taking another look.
